Amaya is an OC, usally played to the tune of Noragami, and this is a WIP of how i am losing control of my life.
Name: 雨/Ame
Vessel: 雨/U
Given Name: 雨夜/Amaya
Weapon Name: 雨器/Uki
History:
Physical Description: Amaya has complete heterochromia, possessing one blue eye and one brown. She stands at about five foot, five inches, and her dark purple hair falls to her hips in very thick, soft waves. She is wide-hipped and lithely muscular, a has a body similar to a dancer. She died at twenty. Her name looks like this and is located on the lower right side of her stomach, close to her hip.
Sense: For those able to tell, she's not alive. She's a spirit, and gives off a feeling of purity and light. Depending on the setting, one may also get a sense that she does not belong.
Shinki: Amaya is a shinki (sacred treasure/regalias/fancypants divine tools) belonging to the dragon god of rain and snow, Kuraokami. (nick: Kura. nick: Mister Useless). You can read about Shinki here. But, to sum it up, just like other sacred treasures, she was once a living human, has since died with no recollection of her former life, wandered the boundary of the living and the dead as a spirit until she was found by a God. Said God granted her a name, gave her new form and purpose, and, in turn, she serves him with faith, devotion, and respect.
(Or so it's supposed to go.)
Personality: She is a somewhat contrary existence. She strives to attain and maintain an ideal of femininity, and so does her best to be delicate, kind, elegant, refined.
Composed.
To her credit, she can often manage a lot of these, is courteous to others unless given reason otherwise, well-groomed and dressed, and often smiling and warm. But, but when pushed--and sometimes it takes very little pushing--she is hot-tempered, forceful, scathing, and largely unapologetic about any of it. Suspecting that he meant to eat her when they first met, she beat Kura without mercy and with great drama...then took great offense over the fact that he didn't want to eat her, only to be remorseful and reverent after the fact when it turned out that not only did he not want to eat her, but he was a God.
While dependent on her God for basic needs, she is driven and does her best to be self-sufficient, requiring little, if any, direction. If the temple steps need sweeping, she will do it, if it is her turn to cook (like it is every night), she has likely already started, if prayers need seeing to, she will have drawn up an itinerary. It is a natural thing to be uncertain from time to time, and if she ever finds herself like this, she takes the initiative to recognise and correct it. Despite her strong work ethic, or, perhaps because of it, she knows rest is important. What she cannot abide in anyone is laziness and slacking off, and her Master is her number one source of irritation to no end on this front.
Her relationship with Kura notwithstanding, Amaya is rather enthusiastic and friendly with others, given to generosity with her time, attention, and interest. She is observant and compassionate, a good ear for the troubles of friends and strangers alike. She does have a tendency to be harder on those that are closer to her when they step out of line, though, not mincing words nor actions, because she expects better of them. She has the energy to scold...well, a lot of people, but it's readily much more personal when it's someone she cares about. Really, she can be harsher in a number of ways and especially has little patience for rudeness, crude behaviour, and disrespect to herself and hers. If any of those things happen, a hot rise in her temper is sure to follow.
She is proud and spirited, not one to back down from much of anything, sometimes to her detriment. Injustice, corruption, mistreatment, not only will she call it out, but she'll always do her best to stop or correct it. She does not remember where it comes from or even thinks to remember, but something inside her cannot stand people who are this way. That said, she does possess self-awareness, and understands that some situations call for a more careful approach. Whether she acts opposed to that understanding regardless of logic is another matter dictated by the circumstances at hand.
Amaya can be blunt and judgemental, but she is usually rather selective or moderate about it, and open-minded overall. She berates Kura for his many, many troublesome behaviours, and will call others out if they're acting unseemly, but she will never go so far as to be truly damaging if she can help it. She absolutely disdains those who pigeonhole and determine the personal worth of others due to circumstances beyond their control. She doesn't remember why, but harbours complex feelings over it, and is both determined to prove her own worth and intolerant of those who put people down in such ways.
As someone who tries her best to be feminine, she holds great insecurity over her weapon form as "Uki": a big, fat (albeit beautiful), divine hammer. Amaya holds tremendous power and potential as a sacred treasure, but she doesn't caremuch at all about that! It's unsubtle! Boorish! No trace of grace or elegance at all! To that end, if the subject of her form is or could be brought up, she will do her best to manoeuvre around the conversation or shut it down outright. In a rare turn of events, she gets depressed, moody, and meek when it comes to light. It's often dramatic, but in her quieter, more sober moments, she does concern herself a great deal over it, wondering if she can properly serve her God this way.
In truth, while she believes in her principles for their own sake, a great deal of fear drives her as well. There is nothing like dying, nothing like being unseen by people who used to acknowledge you or being constantly forgotten by them. She wants to be useful and is as much of a driven busybody as she is because to misstep, to fail is to become useless and cast away. It is the same as being consigned to oblivion, something to be avoided at all costs.
Which is why for all that she may complain about Kura, mean those complaints, or commiserate with others that know his nature, she is, at the end of it, fiercely devoted and loyal to him. She will not tolerate baseless or truly mean-spirited jeers toward his character, when they fight together, it is in good harmony, and while she does her best to live the life she has now, many of her pursuits in it are doing the best she can for his sake. Kura gave her a name, a purpose, and a life. He has a lit a path for her in the darkness, she owes it to him and to herself to follow it.
